A growing need among those who often use multiple computers in different locations is to have access to the documents you need wherever you are. In the old days we had floppies, zip drives, cd-rw's, and even flash drives, but physical media often was damaged lost or mis-labeled leading to data loss. Microsoft has a new service in beta called FolderShare.com allowing users to synchronize files and folders across multiple computers both Mac and PC. Now you can access your files from your home PC from your Office PC and vice versa.

Thunderbird, built upon open source technology, excels as beyond other desktop mail applications (Outlook Express) which has built-in antispam technology as well as other user interface enhancements. With version 2.0 Thunderbird introduces a new visual theme, message tagging for better email management, and more. Thunderbird 2.0 is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Netflix "Watch Now" feature offers movie download alternative - Engadget

Coming soon to your Netflix account...downloadable movies. Netflix has invested quite a bit of money hoping you might be interested in downloading/streaming the Netflix library over the Internet to your PC rather than just ordering DVD's to be sent to you through the mail. Every week seems to be bring us another service to provide downloadable content through the Internet. Perhaps this could be the beginning of the end for optical media.

Yet Another Video Downloading Service

Walmart will be joining the likes of other online retailers (Apple, Amazon, Google, etc.) in offering a video downloading service beginning with the release of the Superman Returns DVD. We will continue to see an increase of video downloading services with different restrictions and business models emerging through the next few years until we can't see how it was any other way. Many people only buy the music digitally from iTunes or some other online store. As more people have high speed internet access and home theater systems, people will be more likely to stay at home and watch high-definition movies and TV shows which they will be able to download on demand. Think about how much money you'll save on popcorn!
