If you're tired of pop-ups when you're browsing there are solutions. If you are running Windows XP, make sure you have installed Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 should be automatically downloaded when you connect to the Internet. You can manually install it by visiting Windows Update. Service Pack 2 installs a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer.
You can scan for spyware/adware which adds additional headache and pop-ups when you're browsing the web. Try Lavasoft's Adaware (Google for it) or Microsoft's new Antispyware.
You can also install an alternate web browser. Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, and Maxthon are just a few examples of the many alternate web browsers than the default Internet Explorer that comes with Windows. I recommend Firefox. (getfirefox.com)

Single-click or double-click
For most Windows environments, you single-click a hyperlink, and double-click an icon. Typically when you are surfing the web everything is a single-click.
P.S. Buttons are single click as well. Sometimes double-clicking in web sites can cause very unwanted results.
