Once a month Microsoft releases updates (or patches) to their products such as Windows and Office. This day has come to be known as Patch Tuesday. Your computer should be telling you within the next day that you have updates ready to be installed. Be sure to install them and restart your computer as necessary. If you would like to manually update point Internet Explorer to http://update.microsoft.com/ and choose the Express option.
