Nortel, known for their business telephony systems, and Microsoft, known for their ubiquitous software, are joining together for the create the next generation of unified communication. Microsoft has already been planning on including telephony-services in their enterprise email server product Exchange 2007. This alliance surely is a step to provide the bridge from the email client to the telephone (including smart phones).
